The Michelle’s Angels Foundation, Inc. (MAF) is a not-for-profit corporation chartered in New YorkState. Its mission is to provide services to those facing any one of life’s many challenges. Its principle vehicle is the MAF website (www.MichellesAngels.com) which provides free services to those in need. Those seeking assistance do not have to demonstrate need as the Foundation does not pass judgment on those who request its services. Supported by the musical gifts of Nashville singer-songwriters, viewers of the MAF website can enjoy and be encouraged by the musical gifts of these Angel Artists and/or have their names listed on the MAF’s Prayer List or Remembrance List free of charge – all to provide love, hope and assistance. Michelle’s Angels Foundation, Inc. (MAF) was inspired by the many acts of kindness performed by Michelle R. Knoll, formerly of San Antonio, TX; Nashville, TN; Orlando, FL; E. Greenbush, NY and Youngstown, OH. While fighting a lengthy battle with pancreatic cancer, Michelle concerned herself with the troubles of others. Her legacy was one of being the “Quiet Angel” who continually performed gestures of kindness for friends and strangers alike, both prior to her being diagnosed as well as after. Although she passed away on March 7, 2008, her memory lives on in the works and deeds of The Michelle’s Angels Foundation and its volunteers.
The MAF’s mission is to provide love, hope and assistance to those facing life’s challenges, whether afflicted with life threatening diseases or injuries, or simply overwhelmed with life’s travails. Incorporated in New York State in 2008, the Foundation’s roots date back to December 2004 when Michelle was first diagnosed with cancer. In an effort to learn how best to care for his “beautiful bride,” Michelle’s husband Herb Knoll began communicating with the 3,000 names he had accumulated in his personal database. The response was tremendous and, to everyone’s surprise, global. Michelle heard from “Angels” as far away as Ukraine, Tibet, New Zealand, Europe, South America and elsewhere, encouraging her not to give up hope.
People began “spreading the word” among friends and family. As they witnessed so many others offering Michelle love, hope, prayer and advice, people began sending Herb the names of their ailing loved ones; they asked that these names be added to the notes Herb was sending out to keep people informed of Michelle’s health status and care. This was the beginning of the international Internet “Michelle’s Angels Prayer List” as well as the “Michelle’s Angels Remembrance List” for loved ones who have passed on, both of which can be found on the MAF website today.
The term “Michelle’s Angels” originated when Herb mentioned to Michelle how “You have Angels all around you.” How everything she needed to rid her body of her deadly cancer was occurring with the help of the Angels Jesus had sent to care for Michelle. The MAF website, www.MichellesAngels.com is today the main vehicle for helping others and their caregivers or supporters. The MAF is uniquely supported by the musical gifts of singer-songwriters who provide musical tracks which the MAF makes available to viewers of the MAF’s website for comfort and encouragement. These gifted artists are known as “Angel Artists.” The MAF also stages a unique annual event entitled “Gentlemen…Hug Your Brides Day” the first Wednesday of March. This event is intended to draw attention to the need for husbands to appreciate God’s gift of a “bride” to share their life with. The MAF also provides pertinent information upon request.
Today, the MAF operates a virtual company, with Executive Offices in San Antonio, Texas and Corporate Offices in Clarence, New York (near Buffalo.) MAF’s strategic plans call for targeted expansion of its services. All services provided by the MAF are free of any charge with the exception of select products which will become available for a modest fee, the revenue from which will support the on-going activities of the MAF.
The MAF is a registered charity in both New York and Tennessee with plans to register in Texas, Florida, North Carolina and Ohio.
